2 month WBV and vaccines

Tommorow is my twin's 2 month well baby visit and they are supposed to get a bunch of vaccines. Should I put any of them off? They aren't in daycare or have older siblings so their risk is low. Did you get all of them when you were supposed to? Or delay any and if so, which ones?

Here is a list of the shots:

Hepatitis B

Rotovirus (oral)

DTaP

Hib

PCV (polio)

Pneumoccocal

I know some are neccessary like the Hep B since it is part of a series they already started. And the Dtap contains the whooping cough vaccine, correct? I want them to have that, also. But roto virus is only spread fecal to mouth so their risk for that is low but you can't start it after 15 weeks so we better go ahead with that, too. And lastly, some are combined into one shot so it might be hard to delay some and not others but I don't know what is combined. Anyway, I am sure we will just get everything but I worry about overloading their little systems.

TIA  :)

Re: 2 month WBV and vaccines

  • I did everything on schedule, but I did not do the rotovirus at all.  It was still kind of new when DS was a baby and he was not in daycare or anything like that.  My pedi agreed that it was unnecessary for him.

If you are interested in a delayed schedule or just more info on vaccines Dr. Sears has a good book called The Vaccine book. This is a link to the schedule he reccomends.

I know with everything you hear it is scary to get the vaccines sometimes, I really believe that they are safe though.

  • We did everything on schedule, however ds in is a regular daycare, so we even opted for the rotovirus vaccine.  I just did what the pedi recommended.  I do have a friend, however who split the vaccines for her children, neither of whom were preemies.   It just depends what you're comfortable with.

  • We did everything on schedule.  I actually questioned it at first, but then I saw how everyone was getting sick around us and I wanted everything on schedule to protect him asap.  Rotovirus, we did...3 year old in the house, he washes, but I am not taking any chances.
  • I guess I am the only one who did not do it on schedule....Our LO was still in the NICU when she was supposed to receive her 2 month shots. She only weighed about 3 lbs (1/4 the size of the average 2 month old), so I refused to sign the papers. I got in a huge fight with the NICU doctor and nurse, but I did what I felt was right for my baby girl. My family is not a big fan of vaccinations as it is and we were planning on waiting if she had been full term. When it was time for her to leave the NICU about 8 weeks later, we had her vaccinated (we requested that they be spaced out over a couple days). We did not allow them to give the ROTA virus vaccination, since they are injecting live virus into your childs system. Good luck with your discision! DD just got her 4 month shots 2 days ago and I noticed a total difference in her. She was really fussy and feverish and didn't eat like normal.
  • we did everything on schedule. also, i give aaron a little tylenol before just so that it has time to kick in because after the first round of shots at 2 months, he was so miserable/in pain afterwards and it messed up his schedule.
  • we've put everything off. it's a totally valid concern to worry about overloading their systems... do your research and remember it's your decision!
