3 questions!

hi ladies!  i've been reading tons of past posts on couponing, etc to save money to when i cut to part time, but i have 3 questions i haven't seen an answer for.

1.  when you have a stockpile of say, tp, when do you buy more?  when you're almost out, or when you find another good deal?

2.  i've seen conflicting opinions on this couponing trick.  some gals say to buy the biggest size of something (say diapers) when they're on sale and have a coupon.  some say buy the smallest so your final price is smaller.  some say go by the unit price.  what are your thoughts on this?

3.  how long do baby wipes stay good?  i've seen amazing deals on them, but i'm not sure how long a stockpile will last.  tia!

Re: 3 questions!

  • 1. in between the both- if it is a really good deal AND i am getting low. There is really no point in having 100 rolls of TP in your house. I want to stockpile not hoarde. ~ i can usually find good deals on it often- so i dont stress over it.

    2. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS unit price. you want to compare apples to apples. SOMETIMES a bigger box of diapers won't yield the best price. Drugstores are doing a lot of good sales on diapers right now with rebate $ etc. couple that with a coupon and a good price = good deal. You want to always look at unit price WHATEVER you buy.

    3. Not really sure on that- like TP- i can always find a good sale- so I don't stress over needing to overbuy.

  • 1.  When there's a good deal, but I don't go overboard.  If I already have 48 double rolls of TP in the basement, I probably won't buy more even if it's a good sale.

    2.  It depends on the product.  If it's something I buy all the time, like diapers, I try to get the lowest unit price.  If it's something that I buy occasionally or a new product I haven't tried, I get the smaller/lower cost package.  No sense in spending $2 more to save $0.12/oz. if I'm not going to use the product!

    3.  Wipes last a really long time as long as the package is intact.  At least 2 or 3 years.

  • 1.  when you have a stockpile of say, tp, when do you buy more?  when you're almost out, or when you find another good deal? I usually try to buy when there's a really good deal.  Of course, sometimes you have to buy when you need it, so it depends.

    2.  i've seen conflicting opinions on this couponing trick.  some gals say to buy the biggest size of something (say diapers) when they're on sale and have a coupon.  some say buy the smallest so your final price is smaller.  some say go by the unit price.  what are your thoughts on this? IMO this depends on the item.  Items like cereal and canned goods I always buy small and with a coupon.  These items are usually 10/$10 or something of the sort, so with a coupon like $1 off 2 I'll buy two or four and only spend 50 cents per item.  Diapers I buy at the wholesale store with coupons.  My wholesale store provides coupons for diapers and they let you stack so it's the best deal for me.  I find the unit price  helpful when comparing sizes of, say, tomato sauce or something.  If there are 10/$10 4 oz cans vs the price of the 15 oz can.

    3.  how long do baby wipes stay good?  i've seen amazing deals on them, but i'm not sure how long a stockpile will last.  tia! As far as I know they'd last a long, long time...a year?  Check the box to see if there is an expiration date.
