I'm trying to find some real job opportunites from home. I'm not looking for a major source of income, just something to do part time to earn some extra cash. It would be great if I could put my typing skills to good use. There are so many scams out there...any suggestions?
Thanks!
Re: WAHM real jobs??
The best jobs come in your field or with your previous employer. But, most of the time you also need child care even if you are working from home.
I was an underwriter and for awhile did post close mortgage audits from home but then market crash pretty much ended that. I've also sold kid clothes on an online auction site, worked for some online sites (not sure what we are allowed to say on here now so I won't name company names but if you check out the www.wahm.com message boards you will get lots of ideas). Now I'm renting lawn signs (or will be soon... I'm laying the ground work now).
I'd be leary of anything that requires any kind of up front money from you to get started. I also personally don't like those home sale party type things just because I would feel bad hitting my friends up to buy things from me they probably really don't want. I know I hate it when someone I know gets into one and I have to start making up reasons why I can't attend the parties...
... Nice. :-) good way to keep the Bump Gods in your favor Jersey. Maybe we can do pictionary next. hehehe
Ahem. Don't you have something else to add???
giggle giggle:: snort snort.
Jeni you crack me up. however she was actually asking for a WAH job. I guess maybe her DH would be happy to provide her with some moola for doing house cleaning topless.
To the origional poster- we were laughing about a craigslist ad that someone posted about cleaning houses topless for some extra money.
Topless housecleaning? Why didn't you guys mention this sooner? We could all be rich if we did that! lol. Hhmmm, after breastfeeding 3 kids I doubt anyone would throw me a dime. Guess I'll have to keep with my storks.
Back to the famous WAH question. There aren't too many legit work at home jobs. Most are either jobs that people had previously whos companies have allowed them to work from home or there are those who have started their own business.
As a pp said, you should never have to pay to work for someone. If they want money from you so that you have the privelidge to work for them, that's not right. BUT don't be confused with paying to start your own business. Everyone I know who works from home has started their own business. They invested a little bit of money to get their business off the ground and they now have very strong, successful businesses that bring in good part time incomes (some even bring in full time incomes). Here are some of the things my friends do: Custom stationary (wedding invites etc.), cake decorating, custome designed jewelry, accounting, poetry gifts, hairbows/tutu's, homemade children's clothes, photography, freelance writing/editing...
Those are just a few. I rent those 7 foot tall storks that go in the yard to announce the birth of new babies. I also have a huge variety of whimsical signs for birthdays, weddings etc.. I've been doing this for over 6 years and I wouldn't be able to be home with my kids if I didn't do this.
So there are a lot of options out there, but if you're looking to go to a website and apply for a job and start earning money from home, it sadly doesn't exist.
If you do decide to start your own business, there are tons of great mom-entrepreneur sites out there. The one mom on one of the mom-entreprenur sites that I like to visit was just recently on an episode of that tv show Shark Tank. It's very inspiring to chat with other moms who work from home and run their own business. Good luck!!
This month's Woman's Day just had 8 WAH job opportunities listed. Some were telemarketing type postions you can do from home - the company trains you.
Might be worth picking up the issue.
Absolutely! Paying some start up costs for a business is totally different. I was referring only to the type you referenced where you pay for the privilege of working for them or to buy the DVD on real estate investing. What you do is offer a product for someone else to start their own business and learn from your experience. That is a great thing. Paying someone up front so you can learn to stuff envelopes for thousands a week... not so much.
Thanks Stacy!! lol Maybe a nice game of Hangman?
ooooooh I lurve me some hangman.
HAHAHA. Definitely cash in while the pickings' are good.
It took me a second to remember the post from last night. And then I snorted and almost choked on my drink. Thanks, Jen. LOL.
