Well apparently it has been the fridge or something in that area that has been leaking...for a long time. Great. There were water spots under the frige and DH picked up the baseboard behind the fridge and the wood literally almost crumbled in his hands. Nice. So apparently that water has leaked through the wall and into the living room. I cut the carpet to look underneath and the padding was wet. I couldn't even look at the wood. I just don't want to even know. At this point I'm worried we're going to have to replace that wall, all of the insulation, the wood in the kitchen, and the living, and get new padding, and carpet. Needless to say I'm kinda worried about the cost...Cant' mold removal get pretty expensive in addition to all of the materials, etc.?? Will home insurance cover any of that do you think? OMG, I hope so.... Mold removal guy comes tomorrow to test it and see what kind it is, how it will need to be removed, etc....
Re: Prayers needed for some insurance help! (nbr)
I could call your house insurance right away... sometimes it is covered and sometimes it is not. They may send their own person to assess it. Mold is one of those things that takes a long time to develop, so reporting it is tricky. If it is has been a long period of time, they will try their best not to cover it since the immediate action was not reported (like a pipe burst or something). Give them a call and try though... you never know how your policy may be set up.
You need to stay away from the mold. It is extremely toxic and not good for you to be breathing. You will probably need to leave when it is being replaced. If you can, avoid being at home as much as possible right now. Your baby does not need to have your breathing that junk in.
