is 101.5 too high fever to be molar related?

He seemed fine all day until this evening

well he has a slight cold but always gets a cold while teething.

I see the top two molars breaking through

Re: is 101.5 too high fever to be molar related?

  • My pedi said that 102.4 was too high for molars, but when Lucy had NO other symptoms of anything else, and then two days later her first molar popped through, I have given up all hopes on it "can't be teething"

  • I think it is.  Our pedi says to call if it's 101 or above.  Give some Motrin and see how he is in the am.

  • Our Pedi said anything over 100 is too high to be teething related.

  • I've stopped believing pedis who say teething won't cause a fever. ?DS has had a 102 fever twice in his life- and he cut a tooth within a day or two, both times.

IMO, if your LO is acting otherwise normal (not lethargic or incredibly uncomfortable) I'd just try to lower the temp with Motrin and a cool bath.?

  • I am really late on this, but DS got a fever of 104-105 for all 4 molars.  None of the other teeth.  The first two times I freaked the he!l out.  The 2nd two times I realized what was going on.  No other symptoms and as soon as the tooth cut skin he fever was gone.
