Pregnant after a Loss

The progress dust worked!!!

Dang, you ladies sure sent me boatloads of progress dust!! Last week I was 25% effaced and 1/2 cm...this week- 75% effaced and 2 cms!!!! My OB was really impressed with that, haha! I knew those BH's were doing something Sunday morning!

On another note- I tested positive for GBS...I know it just means that I have to have antibiotics during labor, but now I'm nervous that it will harm Olivia. Anyone else test positive? My OB didn't make a big deal about it, but of course I'm a little worried.

  • Good for you! We will be having these babies real soon. I think the beginning of November. What do you think?? Oh, and I heard that as long as you have the antibiotics during labor, the baby will be fine.

  • Yay!

As far as GBS it just means (like you said) you will get antibiotics when you check in to the hospital.  Also if your water breaks you will need to go to the hospital to start the antibiotics ASAP rather than having the luxury of waiting at home like some women do. Other than that, it does not really prevent you from having the birth experience that you are hoping for.

My OB didn't even tell me that I had it.  I found out when I got to the hospital.  The IV felt fabulous I must say.  I must have been dehydrated.

  • So exciting about the progress!
  • Hooray!!  It won't be long now!  Stay positive, and try not to let the GBS get you down,  Dealing with it is so routine nowadays, and your beautiful Olivia will be just fine.  Can't wait to hear more of your updates!

  • Yay for progress!!!! I agree with all the ladies here too, it is really common to have GBS, and there really is no reason to worry at all about it- the antibiotics they put you on will keep anything bad from happening to your LO! GL, and I hope you have even more progress at your next appt!!! Do you go back next week???

  • Yay for progress!

I tested positive for Step B as well and my dr wasn't concerned.

  • EEEK :) You are getting SO close!!! Don't sweat the GBS - like everyone said it is very common and not an issue when you get the antibiotics!

  • Yay Babs!!!  That's so amazing!!  I bet she'll be here next week.  Oh, and I think like 30% of women have GBS.  Totally routine and normal. My sister and best friend had it both had perfectly healthy babies within the past 5 months.  Your daughter will be fine.

  • Yay! We'll keep throwing it your way :) Sorry, no experience w/ GBS, but I've always heard it really is manageable w/ the antibiotics. I'm sure Olivia will be just fine.
