Orange County Babies

stroller moms?

I live in Aliso and when I was walking the other day, I noticed a big group of moms getting back to their car after a walk on the trail.  They all had their strollers and babies with them.  I felt way too dorky to talk to them though.

Just wondering if anyone is part of a group like this or where I could find one.

Re: stroller moms?

  • Sounds like it maybe Stroller Strides, you could locate your local on online. I never joined as it costs around $55 a month.
  • Not sure if this was was the group but Stoller Strides offers group programs.

  • If it's Stroller Strides, I'd join APK! My BFF just introduced me to her group a couple weeks ago and I'll be joining them after I have little P. If they are anything like my group of Moms, it will be a blast.  I am already going to their Mom's Night Out GTGs! Good times! :)  I wish you lived out here!

  • Maybe I am just too sleep deprived to think this through, but what does the $55 go towards if you are just walking around the park with other moms?

  • I don't think that's all they do. I believe there are group GTGs and a newsletter or something? I'll ask my friend.

PS: Sara & APK, I cannot get over how flippen precious your little girls are!

  • It could have been either Stroller Strides or Baby Boot Camp.  Both are really good classes.  It is more than just walking - you stop periodically to do a variety of strength and ab exercises.  Plus, being with other moms is motivating too.

I think it's the fee to pay the instructor. I saw a stroller strides group that had an instructor leading exercises.

  • Sounds like Stroller Strides. In NB, the SS group is now associated with Studio Seaside and disassociated with the Stroller Strides franchise so you go thru them to sign up but they have two different levels of workouts I believe. Obviously I love that place! Maya and I will start the outdoor classes in probably a month or so.

Typically you also have to pay the city for use of the park so that's what it goes toward, too.

  • C swears that he is going to join Stroller Strides when little man is here. He saw a big group of them in our neighborhood, and he said they were all good looking.
  • Was it at Acorn Park at 9am on a Thursday? There is a group on the aliso niguel area for new moms of 2009 that meet there to walk on that day and time weekly. I met them at Gymboree class`and join them on their weekend events mostly- they have some great ideas to do with the babies. The organizer is really good at getting group rates.

Here is the info in case you are interested.

  • by the way - I live in the area so if you ever want to get together let me know, but I suck because I'm only available on the weekends.

  • I was going to say it sounds like Stroller Strides... I've been debating about joining one but haven't bit the bullet yet.

  • Eh, I'm not into paying a monthly fee.  Maybe if it was a one time membership fee, but $55/month is more than a gym membership!

When I have more time, I'll try to organize a group of us from here that would like to meet up and walk.  The weekends are already filling up for me, but I'm hoping after the holidays I'll have more time.

Hopefully, we can get a group of us moms from this board to meet up and walk/jog.  Smile

  • Hmmm, I just looked into it some more, and $55/month is for unlimited classes, you can also pay per class.  There is a $110 package for 10 classes.  So $11/class isn't too bad.  They also have a free trial week, maybe I'll try it out....
