OWT - String w/Ring over Belly

I've seen this OWT on the internet on a few different sites... but there is conflicting information - some say if the ring moves in circles it's a boy, some say if the ring moves in circles it's a girl - ??!!  So do any of you know what the dealio is?  I realize it's just for fun really, but I am wondering which is the most recognized way?

I was always told circles are girls and lines are boys. I had it done for fun and it came up boy but we are having a girl.

I thought circles meant girl? Not sure. But I think I'll do it just for fun anyway

In our family, straight line is boy... However, when we do it, it always shows more than one baby, and not always in the right order. But, with this pg, it did show a girl first.

Wait.. what do you mean it shows more than one... or not in the right order?!  Do you mean if the ring starts moving one way, than switches to another way...

Well, we've done it to my aunts who are done having kids, and it shows all of them. We did it to myself, and it showed 4 kids. Supposedly, it shows you the total of what you'll have.

with me, it went in a circle, then stopped moving and started again. 4 times... so, 4 kids for me! For some of my aunts, it showed their losses, but on other's i didn't, so i'm not sure if 4 shows my loss or not.
