Northern California Babies

do you bring baby with you to your dr appts?

We don't have childcare set up yet since she's so young, but I have some medical and dental appts I should get to soon.

I'm wondering how well it works to bring baby along. I can arrange something with family or DH but it's sort of difficult since they're far away and his work isn't too flexible.

Thanks!

  • for my Dr's appts I brought him

But for dentist, I made an appt for the first available or the last available. That way DH and I could figure something out with his un-flexible work as well.

  • I brought DD with me to doc's appts until she was mobile. When she started crawling, I found someone to watch her. I also did not take her to dentist's appts.

  • Dr appts yes but the dentist I try to find someone to watch him. It is just to hard to watch him there and it is loud.
  • For the OB appts, DH & E went with me. I figured he delivered her, so they could see her in the office. For dentist or any other doc appts, I had someone watch her.
  • DH and I tag team at the dentist.  We'll get the last two appts of the day, bring DS, and while one of us is in there the other will watch DS in the waiting room or take a little walk with him.  Maybe that's an option for you guys?

  • My first PP OB visit, of course - doc wanted to see her again :). Otherwise typically, no. I did take her to one medical appt when she was about 3 months old but I didn't have any other option and she was in her sleeping all the time while out and about mode. Now I wouldn't unless it was an emergency.

  • i make it a point to schedule appts the days that dh doesn't work so he can watch dd as usual.

  • Unfortunately (or maybe fortunate to have the opportunity depending on how you look at it), I take baby everywhere I go.  A doctor's appt is definitely not babysitter worthy in my book, and while MIL does live locally, I save my favors for when I really need them.  So yes, baby always comes to my doctor and dentist appt.  Just today, he came along while I got my eyebrows done!
