Asthma

Our dd has asthma, not so bad that she needs a rescue inhaler (thank God) but bad enough that when she gets sick she lives on her nebulizer. I was wondering if there were any parents here who had a dc with asthma? And if it seems to you that your child is constantly sick? She also has allergies to just about everything. But what seems like a runny nose due to an allergy turns into a cough and restricted breathing. I've talked to the dr about it but he seems to think she's just always in the wrong place at the right time. Any thoughts?

Re: Asthma

  • Kellen JUST got diagnosed for sure, today.  They have been suspicious for a while, but now there's no doubt.  Yes, he seems to be sick constantly...so I don't think it's a coincidence. :(

  • Eva was having similar issues in the spring- so bad that she was hospitalized twice. ?She is now on twice daily nebulizer treatments to strengthen her lungs (Pulmicort) and she has Albuterol (in both nebulizer and rescue inhaler form) if she has an attack. ?She has also been on Cingulair and it has made a huge difference. ?Her allergies have not been as bad and her last attack only required one Albuterol treatment to get her back to breathing normal. ?I would suggest talking to her doctor about trying it. ?We also give her Zyrtec on days where pollen counts are high or we are going somewhere like the zoo or farm where there are a lot of?allergens. ?Good luck! ?Feel free to page me if you want to talk more!
