Unbuttoned pants

I have finally resorted to unbuttoning the top button on my pants. I've only gained 2 lbs since finding out but I feel like it's harder to suck in. It just wants to hang out.

Anyone else?

  • Yep, I haven't button my pants in nearly 2 weeks and I've gained 0 weight.  I got 2 bella bands in different colors and they are my new friend.  I find they dont' roll when I put on the band, then my pants, then fold the top of the band over the unbuttoned pants.
  • Me! The elastic on my scrubs has felt so tight that I even started looking at maternity scrub pants!
  • I started doing the same thing about the same time.  I bought a BeBand around 7 weeks.  Even though at my first appointment at 8.5 weeks, I had only gained 1 pound, I was SO bloated.  You have to be comfortable, so do what you need to do!

  • I have also gained about 2lbs, but by the looks of my belly you'd think it was about 7...I'm not 'showing' yet but the rubber band trick is currently my best friend! I think I might have to go out this weekend and get a few strategic pieces to carry me over until I actually need maternity clothes.
  • I am so glad to know that it isn't just me.
  • Elastic waists are a godsend. I've been rocking the Bella Band for a week and lovin it. Do the fold over method decribed above and it's awesome!
  • I know what you mean!  I have gained 0 lbs but the bloat is killing me.  I don't see how the scale says the same thing it always has but this bloat belly is starting to get uncomfortable!

  • Loop one of your hair rubber bands through your button hole and then connect it to your botton on your pants.  It works wonders and gives you a lot more time in your pants before buying new ones. :-)
  • Since this is my second and my daughter is not even a year yet, I had to whip out my maternity pants already!! I hate being uncomfortable, and I look like I did when I was 9-12 weeks already!

Wow, I am going to the bathroom to try this right now!

    Thanks!

It's a little trick I have come to love. :-)

  • Totally the same goin on here! I can't suck in any more and I already have some tummy fat (prepreggers)...I just want to let the muffin top fall but I'll look 5 months preggers! ha! dang it!
  • Mine are unbuttoned and only partially zipped! LOL.  They stay up only because I have the Bella Band on.  (which I am not a huge fan of....makes my stomach more upset from the pressure)

Just keep an eye on your fly and make sure your shirt covers the rubber band. This worked for 3 weeks but I got tired of being paranoid about my rubber band showing (or having DH point out that it actually was).

  • I'm already keeping mine unbuttoned, and going to buy a BeBand this weekend.  This is my third child, so I guess that makes a difference.  Still it males me think I'm further along than I thought.  Can't wait till my first appointment so I can find out for sure!  :)
  • I had to go a size up in my jeans already and I do the rubber band in the loop hole trick.

  • Most of my pants still fit thankfully.  I have one pair that was super tight prior to pg so I haven't worn those much recently and another pair that are really low.  I can button the lower pair, but it cuts into my stomach and is just uncomfy especially after eating (the bloat).  Most all of my pants are on the tighter end and they mostly all fit still.

I am wearing normal dress black pants today and they fit perfectly fine, just like they did before.

    I'll be 10wks tomorrow.

I have a bunch of maternity stuff from friends, but so far I'm still in my clothes.

Yes! The evenings are the worst! I'm thinking of investing in some "lounge pants" with an elastic waistband to change into after dinner each night.

  • They've been unbuttoned all day, and it gets worse as the day goes on.
  • Mine are totally unbuttoned today too.  I am already large to begin with so the digging in of my waist band on my belly is so not happening.

The bella band (no matter how I use it....inside or outside) rides up.  I just have the pants unbuttoned and then folded under so they don't stick out through my sweater and I have them zipped up as high as they'll go.

This morning they were fine, even big, after lunch, the button had to go.

Why wait for after dinner. That is the first thing I do when I get home at night. Wish I could wear yoga pants to work.

Have you tried putting on the band, then your pants, then folding the band over the unbuttoned pants?  I like that way so much more.  It doesn't squeeze my stomach when I do it this way.

  • I'm right there with you! I have gained 2lbs and I can't get them buttoned! My DR said it was from me bloating.. I feel so big but I know I'm not!
  • I need to invest in one of those belly bands!! I cant even stand my pants today!!
