For all of you that have had, or are currently pregnant with Multiples - Are there any tell tale signs that told you you were going to have more that one?? How far along were you before the Dr. could confirm it??
I am 10 weeks, and I am already showing! I am exhausted all the time! I have all the normal pregnancy symptoms TIMES 10!!! This isn't my first pregnancy, but it feels so much different than the rest.
With my son I knew he was a boy the minute I knew I was pregnant, and the same with my daughter. I am totally feeling twins/triplets this time...
My first appt is Nov 3rd & I don't want to go in there insisting it's twins or something just to have them laugh me out of the office.
Any help???
Re: Tell Tale Signs/Symptoms??
This is my 1st pg, so I don't have any others to compare with...
I would think the only way of knowing is the u/s. We knew we had multiples at 5 weeks when they did the first ultrasound.
Regardless, congrats on your BFP and keep us posted if it is multiples after all!

From what I heard, it is very common to show a lot faster with a second pregnancy and all pregnancies are different, so you can have a singleton and be more tired than before, have symptoms times 10.
In the first trimester, I had no symptoms that would have clued me in to the twin pregnancy if the u/s didn't show it. No morning sickness at all.
GL on your u/s.
I found out at 5w6d. there were 2 little sacs. I don't feel ANYTHING. I really had no symptoms. I am bigger than the average mom, but I had severe ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome, and there is still left over fluid in my abdomen. So I think my bump is a combination of left over fluid and baby.
Keep in mind, every pregnancy is different, even if you have had two before. Also, the more you have been pregnant, the earlier you will show with each pregnancy.
I would just be honost with the OB at your appt. Don't make a big deal or anything, just say "I'm feeling a lot worse this pregnancy and seem to be growing faster. Can we check for multiples?" I'm sure they'll understand
Twins born too early at 23 weeks due to incompetent cervix
FET #1, IUI #1, 2, 3, 4 - all BFN
IVF #3 BFP!!! IT'S A BOY! Born July 16th, 2011
FET #2 BFP! Due February 15, 2013
I had no idea it was twins! No sickness or fatigue or anything really. I am showing now at 9 weeks with a little bump...
The only tell tale sign that we had was the 4th u/s. That's right, the 4th!
I never had any morning sickness, fatigue, etc. I got bad heartburn later in the 2nd trimester, and bad pelvic pain at the end. No real cravings to speak of.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a "sixth sense" persay about having twins. U/S truly is the only way of knowing.
you are not really showing at 10w - you are just really bloated- which can happen with one - plus, with your 2nd/3rd pg you generally "show" faster, too...
with my twins i had no more symptoms early on than i did with Griffin. I bloated faster and more- but i think it's b/c my belly was already stretched out.
US is the only way to know.
At 10 weeks, the baby is the size of a grain of rice. Even if you have 2, that is only 2 grains of rice - not enough to show. It's bloat.
That said, I had zero pregnancy symptoms my entire pregnancy! No morninng sickness or ANYTHING. The only signs of twins were in the ultrasounds.
I had a strong suspicion when I started having symptoms around 3-4 weeks. I was pretty sure I was pregnant, before I even took a test.
About 2 weeks after my suspected ovulation date, I started getting the full/heavy boobs, was having dizzy spells and hot flashes. I also got very naseous in the car, but as soon as I ate some crackers, it was gone. I was also having some menstrual type cramping.
Honestly though, if I hadn't been trying to get pg and over anylizing all my symptoms, I might not have really notciced anything.
Right around 4 weeks, full on morning sickness hit. I never had ANY m/s or anything at all with my first son, so I thought it was kind of strange.
But again... 3 other moms on another message board I'm on were pregnant with twins, so the thought was always in the back of my head.
I went for my first appointment at 11 weeks and sure enough... 2 babies! We were still shocked lol
How else would you tell besides U/S?????
