Stay at Home Moms

Anyone have a good house schedule?

Normally I am a working mom, but due to the economy I have become a SAHM. I have great ideas for getting the house in order, but absolutely no motivation. E goes to daycare 3 days a week so I can look for a new position and get some work done.

Thankfully, DH does the grocery shopping and cooking. I have a housekeeper that comes in and does the heavy duty cleaning like bathrooms, mopping, and vaccuming. I just need to keep the house decluttered, laundry done, dishes, etc.

Do any of you wonderful ladies have a schedule for housework, etc? I would love to be able to motivate myself with a schedule and gold stars. It might even help me lose the baby weight.  :)

  • I pick up little things throughout the day so that I don't need to have a major overhaul when it comes time to vacuum, dust and mop.

The mornings I do mainly devote to the kitchen and do the dishes and pick up bibs and dirty towels, etc.  I also pick up the living room and move toys out of the way.

I don't really put the away the toys until the LO's go to bed at night though. There is no point, because they would be getting them out as soon as I put them away.

  • Are you keeping your cleaning service? I have one and just clean the kitchen and vac/sweep and laundry everyday to keep on top of things. Now that I am starting to get into a routine I am actually thinking about letting the cleaners go...but I am not quite there yet.

I am keeping my service. My bathroom would never be clean if I discontinued the service. I do not clean, I hate it. The money on the service is minimal and still in the budget so we are keeping them.

  • I'm very new to this SAH thing, and naturally very messy.

But, what I'm really trying to do is to just keep on top of everything.  I pick up stuff as we finish with it, I try to tidy whenever I have a couple of minutes.  I do a load of laundry every day.  What I need to do is start running the vacuum and spot mopping every day, but I haven't done that.  I also want to start doing a few small things to the bathroom in between times my cleaning lady comes -- clorox wiping the counters, swiping the toilet with cleaner -- but I haven't done that yet.
