Yesterday at work I was cramping a lot so I was really monitoring my toilet paper every time I went to the bathroom. I also armed myself with a pantyliner just in case. Towards the end of the day my CM was getting progressively darker until I started spotting brown. Of course I freaked and figured with the cramping it was the beginning of the end. My first m/c started with brown spotting. I called my OB and she told me to lie down for the rest of the night and come in at 8:15 this morning.
She did a pelvic exam and vaginal u/s and we got to see LO's little heart flickering away. The best part was that baby wiggled and shaked and waved it's new little arms at us. They looked like flippers with paws (so weird). We also got to see LO's new leg paws too. It was a huuuuuuge relief for us. My doctor was so nice about it too, and didn't make me feel bad for worrying about the spotting. She said that this far along, brown spotting is nothing to worry about, just red flow.
She also warned me I'd probably spot a little brown from the exam, which I have, but thankfully since she warned me about it I'm totally fine with it.
I thought to myself, now I can be one of the people that respond to the worried spotting posts with--that happened to me, and my LO is OK! Maybe my experience will help bring relief to another worried mom to be.
Phew!
Re: Spotting scare
so glad to hear things went well! and imo, it is always ok to be on the safe side and call your dr if you start spotting... when i was 10w2d i started with a very light brown spotting and in my case, that was how my doctors and i found out i had a missed mc.
i am so glad you saw the little flicker and the LO was waving at you!
Is this Someflower from TTCAL????? OMG I missed your BFP! Congrats!!!!!
It was indeed a huge relief to see the flicker and the waving.
That makes me feel better knowing other people went through it this week too! Thank you.
