OMG, is it bad to admit that I am DREADING my shower, like with an overwhelming, soul-crushing dread? I truly hate showers, every single aspect of them including the gift opening.

No, its not bad. I am trying to find shower games or activities I would like to do in the hopes I might find some that aren't super never racking for me.
I like the game where you have a tray set out with all the baby items on it (small things) and then later on the tray dissapears and you have to guess what items where on the tray.. the person who guesses the most things correctly wins the prize. I also like the guess the baby food flavor game. I hate the dirty diaper game (with the melted chocolate in it).
My favorite shower activity is the food/cake!! ha ha - as well as the gift opening. My least favorite is just everyone giving their annoying 2 cents on baby care...

Honestly? I had the most fun at my wedding shower just sitting and talking to people. I was just honored to have so many people there to see me.

I think what is really excruciating about my showers is that they are really small, and the group is awkward - basically my ILs and work people. So it's about 5-6 people, only half of whom know each other, all staring at me. It is just so uncomfortable!

Ditto this.
I also went to a shower where I hardly knew anyone, and we had to play this memory-type game in groups. I did not have fun, and I love games. Plus, it took kind of a long time, so it was just awkward for me.
I'm not a huge fan of baby shower games, but the last baby shower I went to, there were 2 new games that I enjoyed and wouldn't mind having at mine. The first one is come up with a candy/candy bar that is associated with a baby related word. For example: Twins = Twix or M&M's, Triplets = 3 Musketeers, Breastfeeding = Milky Way, etc.
The second game is you take pictures of the mom and dad-to-be and cut out their features that you think the baby will have (i.e. her nose, his mouth, her eyes, his hair, ets.) and then the mom-to-be picks the best one. You will need to supply scissors, pictures, tape and paste to play this one.
I love the food and cake at baby showers and the opening of gifts.

Those sound like really fun games! I love the picture one! How cute would that be to hang in baby's room?

It would be! However you really have to pick the best one, because some of them turned out kind of creepy looking...haha!
Thank you Gals, I got 10 games I am willing to put up with now. I hope they are fun to do. I am sure that I will come on later with another poll of would you play this.
I think I've been having pregnancy brain "attacks" lately... mixing up states that family live in, calling people other peoples names (relatives), etc. Well, I should have guessed it would happen again tonight. When I saw the title on this topic, the first thing that popped into my head was "Games people play in the shower? WHAT?!" It wasnt until I was actually IN the topic that I figured out what was being discussed.
Well, I havent been to baby showers at all (except one before my cousin was born and I was like five or six years old) so I dont remember much. But I do remember one game that my older cousin was telling me she did at the shower for her son, that I found absolutley disgusting, but she LOVED. The chocolate guessing game one, with the chocolate melted in the diapers. I mean, I guess its a matter of personal preference, but I wasnt a big fan of chocolate to start with, and the idea of tasting ANYTHING thats been in a diaper just seems unsanitary to me. Just my two cents.
As for activities, I think I'd like just being with my friends and family the most. I dont get to see a lot of them too often. But if my friends/people my age get outnumbered by older relatives I think I'll start to get a bit more nervous. I mean, the baby's grandparents, great grandparents, and his or her great-great-grandmother wouldnt be an issue at all, I love all of them (that I have met (my fiance's grandparents are out of state, and I never got the chance to meet them yet) but if my aunts, great aunts, second cousins, and all the rest of the extended family decide to show up, I may not be too comfortable.
As for what I plan on doing, is it absolutely horrible of me to want to just like... have a Halo tournament or something for games, or maybe monopoly? I'm not too big on standard shower games, and I know I wont be able to get much game time in for a LONG while after the baby gets here... Might as well get as much in now as possible? LOL. I know my friends would enjoy video games, we used to play at my house after school a few years back, but Im not sure how my parents generation and the grandparents would all get along while we... killed aliens and such? Wow, I just realized how ridiculous this whole idea sounds. I'm going to just shut up now.
Re: Shower game Poll
1. I don't like any of them.
2. My favorite is watching the gifts be opened. My least favorite is the games!
