Pregnant after a Loss

**Mrsmiller06**

How severe is your asthma that they will not do a c/s? I have had asthma since 1yo but it has slowly become more of a seasonal/exercise-induced thing. Just curious b/c I have not heard this before and am wondering if it is something I should look more into.

Thanks!

Re: **Mrsmiller06**

  • My asthma is pretty severe right now, which is funny bc normally it is just exercise/allergy induced. My lung capacity is really low- and I either broke or cracked a rib from my asthma cough 2wks ago- so I guess you could say it is pretty bad right now. The new meds that my pulminary specialist has me on are helping- but I still am not at normal capacity.

I had honestly never heard of it before either- I actually questioned my OB about doing a c/s bc of my lack of ability to breathe, I figured it would be a lot easier on me to avoid the ctx and all just going with the c/s. But he pretty quickly said he'd rather avoid it due to my increased risk of a pulminary embolism bc of the asthma. I should have questioned more, but I didn't. He said if it came down to it, he would just induce me around 36wks instead as long as my asthma was a bit more controlled.

I guess I won't really know more about it until my appt next week, but if you'd like I can paige you after I do find out more. I think it is only an issue if it is pretty severe asthma though...

  • Oh poor girl! It sounds like you've had quite the complications asthma-wise. I've had some winded moments when walking,e tc. but nothing that has produced coughing fits. Good to know, though. I hope everything works out for you and if you have time or remember, I would like to know what else you find out next week.

    Thanks!
