Anyone been sitting on a excercise ball?

I have been bouncing on an excercise ball for about an hour and Im feeling a little crampy. Anyone use the ball to help jump start labor or dilation? Im trying to get this process going with all the things Ive heard. Pineapple, 3 cups of raspberry leaf tea a day, excercise ball, walking, spicy food. Im hoping something helps.

My sister in law said when the weather system changed her water broke and living in Colorado we are supposed to be having a huge pressure system change tommorow!

  • I've been sitting on the exercise ball since about 30 weeks... basically b/c it's more comfortable for my back and hops than sitting on a regular chair.  Although I have recently started bouncing on it more and was told at my appointment today that Baby's head is engaged (yay!)

  • Obviously I am not trying it because I am not that far along yet, but I applaud your coordination!!  I had a college roomate with an exercise ball and we used it kinda like a chair in the living room.  People were always falling off of that thing!  I can't imagine trying to bounce on it while I am big pregnant.  I don't think I'd be graceful enough, lol.

  • I love your post because I totally dug my excersise ball out last night and bounced on it all night. Smile

    As you can tell from my previous post, it did nothing, at least for today's appointment. But I will keep it up, at this point it can't hurt. I have also tried walking a lot, spicy food, sex, and having DH rub pressure points. So far they have all failed me!

  • I didn't know I was supposed to bounce on it -- I've just been sitting on it.  Bouncing now.  Wish me luck.  Also, I may need to go buy this tea -- is it at the grocery store or specialty stores?

    You can buy it at a grocery store, but the tea isn't for inductions.  It's to tone the uterus.

  • I got it at the grocery store. I would buy a box or two since you should drink 3/4 cups a day. Its the raspberry leaf tea not raspberry flavored tea. It is for uterine toneing and supports the female system. Bouncing on the excersice ball helps engage the babies head into the pelvis. Keep bouncing and good luck. Labor dust to all you 39+ weekers!

  • You can also move your hips in a figure 8 when sitting on the ball.  This will help your pelvic muscles to open up to help baby engage.  I figure bouncing and figure 8's are worth a shot!

  • It seems I lack the coordination to do a figure 8.  I wish I had started these last week.

    Big Smile Mine did too! He prefaced it by asking if I would get mad if he told me something. When he said I looked like a snowman and I busted out laughing, he looked so relieved... I guess I've been too hormonal lately!
