3rd Trimester

Possible pre-eclampsia vent

So last night I went to a clinic about a little rash I was getting on my leg and my bp was 160/110 so DH and I spent most of the night in L&D while they tested me for pre-eclampsia.  My bp was still really high but bloodwork and urine came back negative (thank goodness!) but they're doing a 24 hour urine protein test on me now and put me on bedrest and checking my bp tomorrow.  If it's still high they're going to induce!  REALLY nervous about it being high, and as scared as I am of being induced I wish they just would!  My bp keeps creeping up this pregnancy and they keep retesting me for pre-e and it's making me nervous!  Or how great would it be to just go into labor right now and by-pass this whole thing!

Re: Possible pre-eclampsia vent

  • I totally understand I'm in the same boat.  I'm on my 3rd 24 hr. urine catch and they've been testing my blood twice a week for weeks now.  I've just had the high blood pressure with no other symptoms of pre-e.  Just remember to stay positive and remember LO's full term. Smile

If you want try eating spicy food, having sex, get a massage to have your pressure points worked on, or anything to help this come on naturally.

GL to you, and I'm sure everything will be fine. Smile

  • I just read your other post, thanks.  We've been trying everything.  Can't do the sex thing anymore though with the bedrest :-(  It's okay though.  It's the very end at least and I convinced DH to bring home Jimmy Johns because of the bedrest thing, plus once baby comes it's diet time!

Good luck to you!  Also, if you haven't yet try the carpal tunnel arm bands and if you have them on one side try sleeping on your other side (or if you have it in both like I do alternate sides frequently) and keep hydrated!  That's what I found works best for carpal tunnel anyway.  Those arm bands really do make a HUGE difference!

  • Thanks for the tip I'll keep that in mind and I'll have to try the band. =)
  • Just a FYI (from someone on a sodium-restricted diet with a history of pre-eclampsia and high blood pressures):  watch the Jimmy Johns!  Lunch meat is LOADED with sodium and will cause your blood pressure to escalate.

I know, I know, total freaking bummer.  I love my Jimmy Johns.  Unfortunately, big no no when you're on a 2000 mg or less of sodium per day diet.  But I'm telling you, it WILL help your blood pressure.
