Pregnant after a Loss

Poll/advice needed

Should I go to work today?

I thank God for my ability to sleep soundly despite the circumstances and Tylenol PM for getting me to sleep in the first place.  Fortunately, I was able to sleep from about 5am to about noon today so I feel rested, albeit deflated.  The contractions are back to the barely detectable level but I have a strong feeling they'll be bad again tonight.  Now whether they'll be bad or frequent enough to count, who's to say.  I'm relatively sure there are enough people to cover for me tonight, I'm just one of those people who have a really hard time calling in sick (or whatever) to work.  I don't know if I can handle another night of clock-watching and worrying if I'm in labor and should leave or if I can stick it out...and what if it's the real thing?  At least I think I have a better grasp on what to look for before going to back to the hospital.  I don't know if I can handle it mentally today....maybe I just need validation that it's ok to call in Stick out tongue

  • I would rather be in the comfort of my home rather than at work if I was feeling at all uncomfortable or had even the slightest thought that I may go into labor.  I am also not one to call in but I think this is a bit different so if I were you I would remain home today and take it easy.  It will be better for you and baby!

  • I was the same way as you are, hated calling in to work no matter what the reason.  That being said, I totally think you should do it!  I was feeling like crap at 38 weeks so I took my maternity leave early and had Landon the next day!  BTW, I cannot believe you are 39 weeks, whoo hoo!
  • I would call in and get busy with hubby...get that labor going.  You are 39 weeks, I can't believe you are still working, so I will gladly validate you r decision to call in!
  • I vote that you stay home! You don't need that stress and worry b/c you are at work. No one will fault you at work for not coming in when you feel like labor is coming on.

  • I would totally call in.  I don't think you'll ever find a better excuse than being in the beginning stages of labor (and I don't think anyone at your work could fault you either!).

  • I say call in a mental day. YOU ARE PREGNANT, and need to take care of yourself both mentally and physically, especially now that you are about to give birth!

  • You are absolutely 100% allowed to call in and stay home without feeling bad or guilty about it!! It is totally okay and that is what you should do!! Rest and take care of yourself and don't give work a second thought. You are going to have that baby SOON - so that's all that matters. Right Hug
  • I say stay home.  You need to think about you and your baby first.  Good luck!  You will be meeting your LO any minute now!  How exciting!
  • I worked up until the very end. Left work after my shift and 6 hours later my water broke. THAT SUCKED HORRIBLY! I would so not blame you for calling off! Try sex and accupressure!!
  • When in doubt, CALL OUT!! Wink
