Pregnant after a Loss

If my baby is so low, why is my belly so big?

First of all, I finally graduated from the vag cam!! So exciting. So at yesterday's appointment, my doc did an abdominal u/s to check on the baby, but she had to go SO low. Like an inch above my pubic bone. She said it's normal, but seriously, that seems really low for 13/14 weeks.

And my belly is HUGE. I look like 4-5 months pg. I joked with her that if I hadn't had 6 u/s showing me there was one baby, I'd seriously think I was having twins.

Anyone else's baby super low and still have a big belly this early? I just don't remember DD being THIS low at this stage.

  • It could be due to bloating.  I was well into the 2nd Tri before the bloat subsided & I saw what my "real" belly looked like.

  • That seems about right. I was just starting to be able to distinguish the top of my uterus around that time, and it was pretty low. The baby's still pretty small. However, your ute is big enough to be displacing your internal organs. Add some bloat to that, and there's your belly!
  • My LG is still sitting super low. The only way I can tell where my baby belly really is, is by laying on our bed with my feet on the floor so that my 'non baby' belly part sinks in. Even as low as she is, I still got rounded on top way early.

  • My little was still really low at my 14 week appointment, so I'm curious to see where s/he will be next week.  They say with each pregnancy you begin to show earlier.
