Benn up most of the night with a coughing 2 yo. He can not get comfortable. I think he's wheezing. It's been going on since Thursday. He is also not eating very much. We tried to get him seen yesterday, but the Dr. was packed! Bring him in this am? There has got to be something that will allow him to rest. I'm/we're at our wits end and I can not stand to hear him cough.
Re: At what point would the pedi. prescribe something for a cough?
Call a nurse and see if they say you can give him anything even if you don't go in. If you think he's wheezing, definitely go in. My pedi says kids over 2 can take Delsym every 12 hours to help with the cough. That seems to help DD#1 a ton.
ETA - Didn't see your response. Yeah. If Delsym isn't working, I'd bring him in for sure.
We tried to bring him in yesterday for open sick hours, but my DH drove by and EVERY paring spot was taken. Called and talked to a nurse who urged us NOT to come in die the chance of catching something worse than he had, but this is day 5 or 6 and it is getting worse, not better. We're going to call and make an appointment. It was a rough night.
I finally caved and took the kids to the dr 2 weeks ago, we were all sick and not sleeping. He gave us a family bottle of a cough medicine with codeine. Seriously, once the kids started sleeping more, they kicked the cough and crap. Dramatically better within a few days.
