Starting solids questions...

Ok so we tried rice cereal a week an a half ago, not a big fan, so we tried oatmeal maybe 5 days ago and he loves it, each day he looks more and more excited to eat it.  But I have a couple of dumb questions...I have gradually made it thicker, but when do you know it is too thick or just right?

Also, when did you know how much to give?  When did you start 2x per day or more?

Thanks.

Re: Starting solids questions...

  • I feed Emmalee until she stops opening her mouth and starts looking interested in other things. I started her on 2x per day about the time she started on second step foods, about 6 months I think.

  • Yay for starting solids!  I use to just play around with the thickness and go with whatever Aaron liked.  At that age he liked his cereal pretty thin/runny though.  I started out feeding him once a day at 5 1/2 months.  Then at about 6 1/2 - 7 mo he seemed like he was still hungry and I introduced another meal.  Shortly thereafter he wanted a third meal.  I kinda let him dictate when he was ready for the third meal.   Hope this helps some!
