I like Jaime better. Both are fine though. IMO, neither are "ugly" spellings. It's a fine name. Everyone will know it, but she shouldn't have to go through school using her initial to distiguish herself.

Gotta throw my 2 cents in on this one since I am a "Jami" and my DH is a "Jamie"
I have two girlfriends named "Jami" and another named "Jamie" as well.
I LOVE my name...but I've always wished my mom would have spelled my name a little different like Jaime, Jaimee, or Jaymee.. just because I knew the other girls who spelled it the same as I did. I've only encountered the spanish pronunciation in Spanish class, but I live in Virginia.
I am a Jamie and I LOVE my name. My mom was reading a book while she was pregnant about a cat named Jamie and a girl named Poppy. Luckily she got the cat before me and named her Poppy!!!! I am not sure I would have loved that but Jamie I am just fine with!

My aunt wanted my cousin's name to be a bit different from all the other "Jaime's" so she spells it "Jayme". I think it looks pretty this way as well.

I'm also a Jamie (named after my grandfather, James). I have found that most girls are "aim" while most boys are "ami" but, for a girl, I don't really think it matters. Didn't like my name growing up, but I love it now! (So, guess I'm a little biased.)

my name is Jaime and I like how it is spelled.... I grew up in CA and never had to correct anyone for saying it w/the spanish pronunciation...except for the few times I ran into people who spoke only spanish and very little English. so it was a non-issue for me....

I know girls with Jaime, Jamie, Jaimee, & Jaymie. I am a little biased, I can never remember how to spell this name.
And I agree about the Spanish pronunciation. My friend Jaime gets that all.the.time.
This.... not sure why some posters say they have never seen "Jamie". Maybe it is a regional difference. Jaime is 100% boy!

jamie.
jaime is pronounced Hi-may.
Ditto this. I have always loved this name.
This, and I'm in the Midwest.
I'm the opposite. I know all Jamie's (girls and one guy). Never met a Jaime.

This.
The guys I've known have been Jaime, whereas the girls I've known have been Jamie. I believe that Jamie Lee Curtis spelled it J-A-M-I-E.
I think it's a great name, and either spelling you choose is "legit".
This. I'd think Hi-May unless I knew it was a girl.
