I am not dilated and barely effaced, and although I realize this is no indication of labor timing, my Bishop score is curently very low (about a 4), so I'm becoming a bit discouraged about being able to go into productive labor on my own.
If you were in a similar situation but ended up having a productive, non-induced labor, I'd like to hear about your experiences. Thank you (and congrats)!
Re: Did anyone have no progress at 40 weeks but end up in natural labor?
I had an appointment at 39 weeks 3 days and I was not dilated or effaced. I delivered at 40 weeks 2 days and was only in labor (from water breaking to delivery) for 7 hours.
Yes. I had LO at 40 weeks and 4 days with zero progress before I went into labor. My LO had not even dropped yet.
I had a 25 hour very very intense labor though- not that it will happen that way for everyone as each person's body is different.
It is totally possible to go into labor with no progress at 40 weeks!
GL!
my only progress at my 40w appointment: 1cm dilated. i started having contractions at 40w 3d, and they continued until 40w 5d, which is the day i gave birth. no induction.
hang in there. good luck!
I had an appointment at 40w1d with no progress. At 40w3d I was having contractions and the next morning my LO was born.
It can happen! Good Luck!
no progress at 40w, scheduled for an induction at 41 wks, went into labor three hours before I was supposed to call the hospital to get the time of my induction.
During that week from 40-41 I tried to keep reminding myself that no matter what happens the most important part is having a healthy baby and a healthy mom. It helped...a little. :-) Good luck!
I had some progress - 1cm and 50% effaced. Labor started that night.
I went from 1cm to 4cm in two days.
