Change in Fetal Movement...Worried

Last week, baby was so active.  I was 27 weeks and he was moving, jabbing, and seeming to having a party in my belly. From the beginning, this has been a great pregnancy, with no complications.

Then I get into an argument with DH on Friday night.  From Saturday onward, the baby has stopped moving as frequently as he did before.  I used to be able to look at my stomach and see it roll.  Now, any movement seems few and  far between.

I do get movement but now I have to hold my stomach to feel it, whereas before, any movement could be felt without even touching the stomach.  The movement before also felt like it was on the surface of my stomach and now they feel like they're more internal.

I put a call into my ob/gyn and the receptionist said  drink lots of water, and count the amount of movement within an hour and they'd call me back to schedule and appt for today.

Worried.

  • It's good you called your doctor. The baby may have changed positions though, making it harder for you to feel the movements.

  • So do you feel that your argument hurt the baby?  I think it's normal as your LO changes positions for movements to change, both the way it feels and the intensity you feel it with.

  • He's probably just positioned differently but you did the right thing by calling! I would ask to go in today anyway just to hear the heartbeat and make sure all is okay.  It will put your mind at ease.

This.  Plus at 27 weeks (I think that's what you were), I wasn't feeling consistent movement yet.

  • Try not to worry, the baby can feel stress. Which is also why he may be not moving as much, maybe the stress of the fight caused some fetal stress to him. Maybe he just changed positions, as long as your still feeling him daily, he's fine. But good that you called your doctor!!
  • I think 26-27 weeks I wasn't feeling constant movement, the weeks prior and after the movement never stopped, and still hasn't stopped. Probably the position
  • Good call to the docs.  As pp said, the baby may have changed positions.  I'm sure everything is okay with you.  Try something sweet and lay down for a while, see if that helps.

  • Its good to call the Dr.  I just wanted to let you know that the same thing happened to me around 27 weeks but everything is great now.  Keep us posted
