If you are planning on going to any birthing classes, how far along will you be?? Not sure if its something you wait til closer to the end?? I have an appt with my dr this week so I'll ask what they suggest but just thought I'd see what you ladies plan on doing. Thanks!
Re: Birthing classes....
I'm taking mine at the hospital, will be 25 weeks when it starts - a bit early, but I didn't want the holidays and stuff to get in the way and also I wasn't sure if the hospital would be offering another course before our due date.
They recommend that you are finished about 4 weeks before your due date (I think)
with my first we took three classes all recommended by my doctor i took them all in the last two months- but i had no signs of giving birth early- and we took them at our hospital so we had to register in the second trimester. also all of our classes were one day classes-
1) a breastfeeding class- great and very informative- wish i had taken this before my shower so i would have registered for more breastfeeding related items, like pads, pump, milk storage etc
2) a 10 hour birthing- hospital tour class- we also could have taken this as a series of three classes -but opted for one long saturday- just taught us about the stages of labor, some general pain techniques, the hospital, what to do when we go into labor etc
3) cpr/ first aid for infants- highly recommend
now that i am expecting my second we are planning on taking a hypnobirthing class to try and have a natural birth the second time around- this is a four week class and i will probably take it the seventh or eight month- but it is not offered through my hospital
