Pregnant after a Loss

Linea Negra and stretch marks question

When did your linea negra show up?  Has it not shown up?

If you have stretch marks, when did you get them?

Oh and why not recommend your belly lotion?

Thanks!

Re: Linea Negra and stretch marks question

  • I'm starting to see my linea negra showing!  I can even see it a bit on the top of my belly.  But no stretch marks yet...

I've been using Erba Organics mommy to be belly oil with Mustela stretch mark cream.

I tried the Mama Bee and liked it too...but didn't like the Tummy butter by Palmer's.

  • No line just yet and no stretch marks thank god. I have been really bad about cream but I have just been using a jergen's lotion. I should get something more mommy related but it just seems like a gimmick to me.

  • I have a small linea negra, that is orange in color.  I think I noticed it around 30 weeks.  No stretch marks, though friends have told me that they didn't have any until the last 2 weeks of pregnancy, so I am not out of the woods yet!  I do have a dry, scaley belly though.

My dermatologist is also pg and she recommended a lotion called CeraVe.  it is a little pricey, but I found it at Walgreens.  She said it is the only lotion on the market that actually repairs skin.  So, I'm giving it a try.

  • No linea negra for me yet... but I'm super pale, and I think that might make a difference!

I have a tiny patch of what will turn into stretch marks. I'd put on quite a bit of weight 2-3 years ago, and got 3 stretch marks about an inch long on my belly. They've since gone away because I'd lost weight for my wedding (and just general fading). But, I can still see the little white lines where they were. Now at the tops of them, I've got these little purple dots. I'm sure they will continue to go down the lines and become full on purple stretch marks again.

I'm using Shea's Cocoa Body Butter for Stretch Marks as well as Beauty Control Warm Sugar Lotion.

  • When did your linea negra show up?  Has it not shown up? I'd say around 26 wks

If you have stretch marks, when did you get them? No stretch marks, even my ob was commenting on that this morning

Oh and why not recommend your belly lotion? I've been faithfully using Palmers anti stretch mark cream, at almost 38 wks I think it's doing it's job!

  • No stretch marks or linea negra and hoping it stays that way.

I have also been using Palmers anti stretch cream/cocoa butter every day when I get out of the shower.

  • I think my linea negra started to show up around 16 wks but it was VERY faint. Got darker around the half way mark.

Cannot see any stretch marks YET, although I cannot see the lower half of my belly!

I have been using Baby oil, Palmers coco belly butter and Caroline's Daughter belly oh and Mama Mio tummy rub oil.

  • Hey there!  I have a light linea negra from the bottom all the way up, which surfaced around 17 weeks or so... it hasn't gotten any darker though.  Not sure if it will - I have heard some stay light and some get very dark.  I don't have any stretch marks yet.  I am using Medela Stretch Marks Double Action cream.

  • I have a faint LN that goes about half way up to my belly button.  I do have stretch marks despite faithfully using palmers stretch mark cream.  Plus I have more on the right side than the left, an I think because he usually hangs out with more of his body on my R, if you look down my belly it always looks a little lopsided!
  • When did your linea negra show up?  Around 22 weeks below belly button (maybe 20) and then maybe around 30 weeks above the belly button (maybe a bit earlier)

If you have stretch marks, when did you get them?  do not have any and hoping to continue this way....although I heard sometimes you will get them right at the very end or even during labor

Oh and why not recommend your belly lotion? Lubriderm with shea and cocoa butter

  • I'm not sure when my LN actually showed up, but I noticed it at 19 weeks. No stretch marks yet.

  • I don't have a linea negra, but I unfortuantely have stretch marks.  I got a few on my lower adbomen.  I used coco butter everyday too, but my doc says that if you are going to get them, there is no amount of lotion in the world that will stop them.  I got them about 24 weeks or so.

  • My linea negra showed up early, maybe around 16 weeks, but was really faint.  It's still not that dark and it's only below my belly button so far.  I have been lucky not to have any stretch marks so far.  I'm really not a fan of stretch mark oils.  It makes me feel gross to put oil on then put any clothing on.  I use Curel Pregnancy and Motherhood lotion and I really like it.
  • I don't have linea nigra but I do have stretch marks.  They showed up at some point between 25-28 weeks.

I've been using oil (Mamma Mio), lotion (Palmers), and belly butter (mamma bee or something like that??) religiously.  I'm sure you've read this but for all those ladies who don't have stretch marks, it's not the lotion, you are just lucky.  Lotion doesn't do anything but make your belly feel less itchy and make the marks a little less red temporarily.  I hope it will help them fade after the fact though... a girl can dream!!! (sigh)

  • My linea negra line didn't show up until about week 26 or 27 (it's still very light), and so far I still don't have any stretchmarks (knock on wood). I just use regular lotion like Curel. I've heard genetics have more to do with whether or not you get stretchmarks than the lotion you use on your belly so either you get them or you don't. I use the lotion because it helps my belly from feeling itchy.
