So, earlier this week I started getting period like cramps lasting maybe an hour or two, and my doc said its just my body getting ready for the baby. Well, today I started to have the same pain accompanied w/ low back pain, and hip pain. I figured it was the same thing I had experienced since wednesday, but the cramps were coming and going every half hour, then every 15 minutes. My hubby got worried, so I called the doc and she said to go to L & D to get checked out. I figured I wasn't in labor, but i thought what the hell, maybe I am. We got there, they hooked me up to the monitor, and were tracking my contractions which were 10 minutes apart and lasting 90 seconds ( all i felt were period cramps, i never really felt a contraction at the moment it was happening). They checked me and I was dilated to 2 cm- 1 cm more than last wednesday at my appt. To make a long story short, they hooked me up to an IV and discovered that my uterus was "thristy" and i just need fluids to stop contractions. I swear i have beein drinking so much water, but I guess it wasn't enough. They sent me home a couple hours later. I guess its good that it wasn't real labor because there is still 5 weeks until my due date. However, I feel disappointed because I was starting to think that maybe today was the day. Oh well---what was funny was that when we were leaving, the nurse asked me and my husband for our visitors pass---it made us laugh, but also made us feel like losers for going to the hospital and it only being false labor...just thought I'd share
Re: feeling like a fool :)
I'm lurking from the 2nd Tri board. Sorry you had such a busy day with no "results". Good luck in a few weeks!
