1st Trimester

Red bleeding in first tri? Please come in if you've had it.

I've already called the On-call doc and i am waiting to get my first ultrasound on Monday morning.  I had a 4 or 5 wipes of quarter size splotches of red blood on Friday at 3pm, that turned to brown spotting and stopped at about 7pm. Then Saturday, i have the same amount of red blood at 2:30pm and have continued to have brown spotting since, with a little brown mucus. I have been home with my feet up, drinking a ton of water. I've had just little twinges of cramps, but i wouldn't even call them cramps more like aches to the left/right of my uterus. Hoping for the best.

Anyone have a similar experience with a positive outcome?

  • I don't want to scare you or upset you, but I had the same experience and went to the ER and it was not good.  I recommend for peace of mind to try to call your Dr again or go to the ER and request an ultrasound.  Good luck, sending thoughts and prayers to you.

  • If it makes you feel better, I am going through the same kind of stuff.  I did have a pap on Wednesday, so I am hoping that is the cause of some of the spotting.  It has seemed to slow down a little bit. It has never been heavy or even in my panties, only when I wipe.  It is still frickin scary though!   I called my Doc and she didn't really say much.  I have an u/s scheduled for the 4th.  I hate waiting.

Good luck!  I hope everything is alright!!

  • I had it at 4w6d.  I was going to the bathroom and felt a gush... saw a drop of blood in the toilet and when I wiped it was as if my period had started (red blood).  I called my doc and he said it could be early bleeding or implantation bleeding. I didn't have any other cramps or bleeding, and I had an ultrasound 2 days later and everything was fine (I was only 5w2d so they saw the gestational sac and yolk sac).  I had a follow up ultrasound a week later and got to see the heartbeat!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  • I have had the same experience. There's info in my blog.
  • I had that around 6ish weeks-they told me it was common and just call if it got worse and I had cramping. A week after that I had gushing blood and I was certain I was miscarrying. I went in for an ultrasound and baby was doing fine. I had a subchorionic hematoma that was bleeding. Usually they resolve on there own. So far I am progressing well and got another ultrasound of my babe at 12 weeks and he/she looked great!
