Trying to Get Pregnant

Anyone work for Bed Bath and Beyond or know someone who did?

DH got a job offer for management position there, and now his company is talking about countering, and he's very torn about what to do.  His current boss said she knew people who worked there and hated it (although of course she is trying to get him to say).  Any feedback would be appreciated!  Thanks

  • I'm not sure where you're at, I'm sure that makes all the difference.  My uncle is a General Manager for the Chicago region and likes it.  He's been in retail a loooong time and is very critical of places and has positive things to say about the company in general.  I think that like any job, the people you work with can make or break the job.  Tell your DH to try and go with his gut feeling.  GL!

  • Congrats on the job offer and GL with the decision.  I am sorry I can't help you with any info though.

  • Is he in retail now? I think retail would be a tough industry to be in. I agree with the pp, tell him to go with his gut! GL

  • Thanks!  He's torn, and he's asking me for advice, but I don't know what to tell him!  I just really want him to be happy.  I told him already it could totally depend on the people, and he knows that, as he already works with some people he doesn't like (and some people he does like).

I hate unknowns, and BB&B is an unknown right now.  His current company kind of sucks, but at least we know the deal and work around it.  I can offer advice to everyone else but when it comes to DH I'm just so nervous he'll regret his decision!

Yes, he currently works for Macy's.  HORRIBLE hours, but that's retail for you.

Haha believe me I thought about that!  But they're both 20% -same as the coupons you get in the mail from both companies Sad  and macy's has a ton of restrictions - no discount on the big ticket items.

BB&B has longer store hours (1 hr longer every day), but after that they pay overtime (Macy's doesn't), and DH ends up working longer shifts most of the time anyways at Macy's...  it's like 6 of one and a half dozen of the other...

  • That is a tough one.  I've never worked for bbb, but I would think Macy's would be the safer place to work for with the current economy.  They have been around longer and I would think they would have less chance of closing the bbb.  I could be totally wrong though, too.  Good luck with your/his decision.
