Baby Names

Questions

DH and I have been together a long time. We both work in the education field and come in contact with a LOT of names.?

?

We aren't PG or even TTC yet... but we talk a LOT about names and what we like and don't like. It has taken us a long time but we have found 1 girl name and 1 boy name we both like. So here are my questions:

?

1. How many times did you change your mind (if any) about your top names?

2. What do you think about these names:

Boy: Dylan Harrison (Harrison is def. the middle name- His grandfather was Harold, my grandfather was Harry)

Girl: Alyssa Madeline (Mad-uh-lynn-- My grandmother's middle name)?

The "y's" weren't purposeful but I love the name Dylan and hate the spelling Alissa...

?

?

Thanks! :)?

Re: Questions

  • 1- We didn't pick out names until we knew what we were having.  So there wasn't much mind changing.  Just more widdling down our lists and finding a name we both likeds.

2- I like both your names.

  • We had names picked out that we liked before I got pg. Once I was actually pregnant we decided our baby would be either Sophia Joy or Liam David. We had a girl, so Sophie Joy she is!

I like both of your names.

  • 1. I was TTC for close to 7 years before finally becoming pregnant. Our must names back then were totally different then the names we agreed on once we actually did get pregnant.

    2. I like both names and both were on my list. We picked Dillon over Dylan however (for a number of different reasons).

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • 1. We talked about names in passing before TTC, and despite coming up with various options, we ended up using the name DH had picked out years before as his favourite girl's name.

?2. I really like both of your names -- great choices!?

  • 1. We never changed our minds once we decided for sure (at least we haven't so far--LOL). For DS #1, the MN was set first, and for DS #2 the FN was set first. We never picked out girl names with either.

    2. I like both of your names but definitely prefer Dillon over Dylan. To me it looks like Bob Dylan/George Harrison spelled that way. But I'm a '60s music nerd.

And not that you asked but I've only seen Alyssa spelled with a Y anyway so it doesn't look weird at all to me.
