Is your LO loud?

I feel like DS is so loud.  It seems like everything that comes out of his mouth is a yell.  I've tried ignoring, I've tried shhhshing, I've tried talking to him softly to get him to try and bring his volume down.  He will softly say Daddy, but of course when he wants me its MAAAAAAAAAM that I swear all the neighbors can hear.  I'd say most of his communicating is done at yell volume.  Ugh, it's awful!  Any insights or tips would be great.  Hopefully he will grow out of it when he can use his words more.  Please tell me I'm not the only one with a super loud baby!

  • Whoops, I meant to post this on 12-24, but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!

  • DD can be like that.  I've taught her the "inside" voice and the "outside" voice.  She still doesn't completely get when to be quiet -- she's constantly going up to our sleeping baby and saying loudly "hi, baby T!!!"  I figure she'll grow out of it.

  • Oh yeah! My DS is loud. We tell him about inside voices too. I am constantly putting my hands over my ears, making a face, and telling him, " Ooh, that's too loud. It hurts Mommy's ears." It works for about a minute. :) I figure he'll get better about it eventually.
  • DD is always loud!  She is always running around the house yelling and singing at the top of her lungs!  I find myself saying, "Honey, you need to stop yelling it hurts my ears."  She also talks really loudly to her baby sister.  I've been telling her that babie's have sensitive ears and don't like it when people talk loud at them.  That's helped her understand..and she will use her quiet voice w/ her sister, but she still talks/plays loudly at this point.  I'm hoping she gets it eventually!
