Boo has fleas. What to do?

DH said she has fleas. Do we take her to the vet? Get something over the counter? Where the hell would she get fleas?

Re: Boo has fleas. What to do?

  • I find it's better to go to the vet.  Of course, that is probably because we have so many animals for them to attach to that they are tough to get rid of. The end up biting me.

  • Get some Aadvantage to put on his neck after a flea bath. The aadvantage comes from the vet, but I'm sure you could find some stuff over the counter too. GL!
  • You can buy some Frontline flea medicine (?) from the vet. You apply a little bit to the back of their neck and it's supposed to work for 6 weeks. Don't feel bad, my kitty has fleas as well and she NEVER goes out! We used the Frontline 2 weeks ago and we're also considering giving her a bath for good measure. The good news is that since it's getting colder out, flea activity in the environment should decrease.

    OMG, That is awesome

  • Call the vet.  They'll probably give you frontline and it works really well.

    .
  • I buy some of the OTC stuff online since its cheaper.

Also, if they're in your house you might want to flea bomb your place to kill all the eggs. But thats a PITA since you have to make sure all your food is wrapped up really well and stuff.

  • I would go to the vet, they will probably give you frontline.  They'll comb her and if they find even one flea they give them a pill that kills them all and then just keep her on frontline  (at least this is what my vet does)
  • That sucks I would be going crazy!!!  What's really crazy is that I have a cat named Boo.  What color is your's?  Mine is black and a white bikini area kind of like underwear.
  • FYI you can get frontline and advantage from www.petmeds.com without a prescription.  It saves you a trip to the vet.  This is what we did when my dog got fleas.

  • You can get Frontline and Advantage at Pet Supplies Plus, or any similar pet store chain.

You might want to bomb your place too. Cat fleas are VERY aggressive, and will bite humans too.
