Repost from Infertility board. Thanks!
Hi. Sorry if this is long, or if it comes up regularly, and I haven't noticed.
We just had our IVF#2 cancelled, but the RE said to go ahead and try naturally when I detected the LH surge. We did this yesterday, but now I'm a bit concerned because I will be starting my IVF#3 priming meds next week. On Day 8 dpo I will start the estrogen patch (no problem) and on Day 9, Ganirelix (not recommended for pregnancy).
Of course, I asked the RE's office, but they said 'Wait a month if you aren't comfortable starting the Ganirelix.' WTH? We wouldn't have tried if we had known that was the recommendation. Not that there's an actual recommendation from them in that statement.
Anyway, I asked if it would make any sense to come in for a beta blood draw on dpo 8 (the day before I would start the Ganirelix). There response was "It's no problem for you to come in."
Anybody here have any experience with starting antagonist priming when you thought you 'might' already be pregnant? How about that Day 8 beta? Is the blood test strong enough to detect the earliest HCG? Would it tell me for sure?
Thanks. I know these are RE office questions, but I'm not getting very far with them, and I know there's a lot of experience on this board.
Re: XP: IVF Atagonist ? - Trying Naturally Prior
I wish I had answers for you GymDog. Just wanted to say I'm sorry that you are going through this. You would think the REs office wouldn't recommend you go ahead and try naturally if the Ganirelix is a problem! They just seem to be wishy-washy on all of your questions.
To GymDog's RE, I say: GRRRRR!
