Toddlers: 24 Months+

how is your toddler with vaccines?

We're about to start my 2.5 year old's vaccines. She is delayed for medical reasons and we'll be doing 1 shot a month to catch her up. I'm sooo nervous for her!  How does your toddler handle them?  Does it seem to hurt a lot or do they not seem to be too bothered?

  • Katie told the nurse 'thank you' after the last vaccine. LOL it's actually easier than when she was little.

  • reall? omg that would be a dream come true!
  • Ben cried a little when he was younger and had a little fever at 2, 4, and 6 month shots, but was fine at 12 and 18 months.  He just got his flu shot a couple of weeks ago, and didn't cry a bit and asked for the band aid the nurse had on her shirt.

I also think it is much better now than when he was little!  It doesn't seem to hardly bother him!  The last time he had a shot (flu shot), he asked the nurse for more?!?!

  • He is fine. He cries, but just for a minute and as soon as he gets his animal cracker he is fine.

He always had a reaction to the Pertussis vaccine, which they get several times (he is all done with his, but I don't know what schedule yourr DC is doing). Spiking a dramatic fever the next day, very crabby, red/swollen area where he got the shot, etc. Apparently this is very common for the pertussis vaccine. He was always fine within a day, but it still sucked.
