How do I determine how long my cycle is exactly? I have been tracking the first day of my periods for the last several months. I have been using an only baby center ovulation predictor.
However I don't know if I am ovulating now or next week because I don't know how many days my cycle is.
I don't want to go buy one of those expensive ovulation predictors at the store. I was just hoping there was some calculation I can use.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Please help with cycle and ovulation question
You need to either temp or buy OPK (ovulation tests) to know exactly..
For instance I have a 28 day cycle but always ovulate on cd17 so if we did it on cd 14 like web would say we would miss it..
Agree with the pp. The only thing I would add is that your luteal phase (the phase between ovulating and the start of your period) will never be more than 18 days. So, if you consistently have a 28 day cycle, your ovulation date will never be before day 10 of your cycle. Or, if you consistently have a 40 day cycle, your o date will never be before day 22 of your cycle. (this is assumming, of course, that you are actually ovulating... which you won't know unless you temp)
I don't know if that helps or not - but it's another clue if you don't want to temp for some reason.
So if you're ovulating, you're doing it between cycle day 6 (very unlikely) and 16 (assuming you have at least a 10-day luteal phase).
