Two Under 2

Joovy Ergo vs. City Mini Double

I've spent the last week doing a lot of double stroller research (including catching up on the posts here) and I have finally narrowed it down to the Joovy Ergo or the Baby jogger City Mini Double.  I dont want a large double stroller and they each seem to have some awesome features.

I personally really like a lot of the ergo features, the size, ability to have the baby in the carseat close to me, and the fact that it is a sit and stand that DS can use as a regular stroller for the first few months.  I figure I can keep the baby in the car seat part until about 7 months, which will be pretty close to when DS is 2.5, but I'm still not sure if having him solely use the jump seat at that point is the best option.  He really isnt a big fan of being in a stroller to begin with, but I also dont want to have to worry chasing after him when #2 is here.

Does anyone have experience with using the ergo (or any sit and stand) with a 2.5 year old?

I'm also looking for any experience with either stroller and pros or cons to each.  Also, if you have the mini, did you get the infant seat attachment?

thanks!

Re: Joovy Ergo vs. City Mini Double

  • I don't really have input, but I'm anxious to see some responses. I pretty much have it narrowed down to the joovy ergo, or city classic double ( i just love air filled tires too much). I would prob get the infant attachment, but it's not technically compatible with my carseat (chicco) and I'm not interested in buying another one. But I've heard it works... so anyway, I think either one will be great, but yea I'm interested to see the responses.

  • I ended up going with the Joovy ergo and have it in my possession although I am still waiting for baby #2 to arrive, so I don't have too much experiece with it. My other front runner was the the baby jogger city elite. My son is 22 months right now and he certainly needs to be contained but I wanted the ease of something that I could use with a car seat and that we could grow with. He is larger and I thought that the city mini was too narrow for him to fit comfortably. The back seat on the Joovy has a 3 point harness although it doesn't have a back for the older child to lean against. It is still pretty long and heavy vs the city mini, but I really wanted something tandem rather than a side by side for our primary stroller this winter. I'm still thinking of getting a double jogger, probably a BOB in the spring if the P&T that I already own doesn't cut it when the baby is out of the car seat.
  • I am stuck between the same two also! Just can't decide if DS will still want to be in a stroller much longer..he'll be 26 months when the baby gets here, so over 2.5 by the time he'd be on the jump seat, but right now he still does well in the stroller..I know alot of moms who love the city mini, but I'm leaning towards the joovy ergo

  • I am deciding too

there is a new one coming out in December that I really want - the Baby Jogger City Select I believe its called... I am leaning towards this one because I don't know if my DD will like the sit n stand part of the ergo. I like that this has two seats, with 16 different combos. I just need the carseat adapter and the 2nd seat. I think I will buy the second seat when LO 2 is about 6 months. just to spread out the cost.

  • I was in the park the other day and a mother had a city classic with the attachement for the car seat.   I asked her if she liked it and she said that she felt that the baby was too far from her .  When I first seen the attachment I thought it was the coolest thing, but the more I looked at it it made me nervous, it is just a metal bar.  She also said that she cannot lift the stroller into the car by hersef.
