  • My DH is a cleaning-product junkie, so he's always buying new stuff to try. He switches it up too often to keep track, but it's fine by me because he cleans the bathrooms most of the time anyway (and that's the worst IMO).

Plus, BIL works for a company that makes The Works. We have plenty of toilet cleaner, plus a huge box of their other products. His plant will close in a few months, but I think our supply will last for like two years.

How does the vinegar and baking soda work for you?  I kind of want to switch to cleaning "greener" once we run out of current cleaning products.

  • I have a spray bottle of the vinegar/water and put a drop of dish soap in it.  I sprinkle baking soda in sink and on stove (when there is caked on food) and make a paste by scrubbing it.  On the counters I just spray it on both in kitchen and bathroom.  It is a disenfectant, deoderizer and great for cleaing.  In the shower I sprinkle a lot of baking soda and spray it and scrub.  For the floors I used vinegar in place of whatever for the mopping.  I find it drys quick, the house doesn't smell like cleaning solution and I even spray it lightly on couch and carpets as a febreeze.  My daughter and I both have asthma and this doesn't hurt our lungs and also we ahve two dogs that I don't worry about licking it or getting sick from it.  I have been using it almost a year and love it and bonus - saves a lot of money!  Oh yeah - works great on the carpet when the dogs vomit or have a stomach issue.
