Overnight CD

Hi Everyone,

DD is sleeping through the night (about 10 hours) and is completely soaking her CD (Mother-ease Fitteds).  We co-sleep and she does nurse a bit at night, but we just side nurse as she needs it.  Neither of us really wakes for it.  We don't get up or turn the lights on and she's not nursing for very long.  I'd prefer not to have to do a change in the middle of the night because I think it will wake her more fully and she's really liking the sleep (and so are we).  Her skin's not irritated, but the diaper is seriously soaked through.  Is there something I could be doing to help keep the wetness away?  I have liners, but I'm wondering if that will make any difference.  Should I just set a time to change her once a night?  Thanks!

Casey

Re: Overnight CD

  • We've been using the Good Mama Good Nights with much success!
  • Loading the player...
  • You could try some fleece liners (just buy some at the fabric store and cut into strips) or a microsuede or something like that.

    I wouldn't wake her either!!

  • What are you using over the fitted? I have found that the only thing that works for us is a Goodmama fitted, hemp liner (triple folded) and then a thick wool soaker (we use Arisotcrats).

  • I'm using a Thirsties Cover.  Nothing is getting beyond the cover, though.  She's not leaking through to her clothes or the bed.  It's just the wetness against her skin that I'm concerned about.  Would trying another liner or cover (possibly a wool soaker) help with that?  I love my diapers, they're fabulous, and don't really want to switch those, but will if I have to.  They're definitely absorbing, just not keeping moisture away, which is what I expected.  I don't want that nasty gel from sposies against my baby.  This is my first and I've CDed since she was born with great results, it's just all still new to me.  I'd love suggestions.

Thanks for the diaper and fleece suggestion-- I do have a fleece scarf I was considering cutting up.

  • fleece or stay-dri fabric liners would help. Eventually you will need a more absorbent solution. You could add some type of doubler, maybe one with hemp. I used Thirsties and Kissaluvs doublers with ME Sandy's fitteds at night for a while before we had to switch to using a mega-stuffed pocket diaper at night.
