Parenting after a Loss

**lkstor**

Hi there!  The other day I think I saw a post you wrote regarding a high risk for another ectopic after a second child?  What was that stat again?  Was that for all ectopic pregnancies including those where the tubes were saved?  TIA!

  • Hey :) No increased risk after a second child, but an increased risk after a second ectopic. After one ectopic pregnancy, your chance of having another ectopic is about 20-30 percent with all future pregnancies. So even though we've had healthy babies, that risk is always there with future pregnancies. If someone has two ectopic pregnancies, there is about 90% chance that future pregnancy would be ectopic. So many doctors will tell women with 2 or more ectopic pregnancies that they shouldn't try to get pregnant naturally. IVF is still an option for those women since it bypasses the tubes. Does that make sense?
