Pregnant after 35

2nd Dr. Appointment

I have my 2nd Dr. appointment (start of 2nd Tri) in a couple of days and I wonder if the mamas who are a little further along or have gone through pregnancy before could give me the rundown on what might happen. I'm assuming I'll get the blood test results from my 1st appointment and I'll probably have to pee in a cup again, but that's about all I can predict.

Thanks ladies! Smile

Re: 2nd Dr. Appointment

  • I'm trying to remember for you from last time but nothing stands out... I don't really think much different happens?  I'm a lot of help, aren't I!

  • Weight, BP, PIAC and the dr will listen to the baby's heartbeat.  That's really about it. The appts during the 2nd and early 3rd try are all pretty routine and quick.

  • What everyone else said, and you should be offered some screening tests - Nuchal, Quad Screen. If you don't get offered them, you may wish to ask. Even if you don't care about the results, the nuchal test is a great opportunity for you to see baby on the ultrasound for a while! And insurance normally covers it for us old folks Smile

I was offered the opportunity for the tests.but did not do them at my appointment - I was sent elsewhere for the ultrasound, on a different day. But you should at least have the conversation with you OB. Also if you're interested in an amnio or CVS, now is the time to ask about it.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies! I figured it was pretty much a routine visit. I think I'll brung my hubby to this appointment so he can meet the doc and ask any questions he may have. I did have my 1st Trimester screening last week. They did the ultrasound and measured the nuchal fold. We even heard the heartbeat! So cool!!! We don't have the blood work back yet, but the doc said that everything measured out great and it looks like it's going to be a perfect little baby. Woohoo!
