Need help

So DS was sick last week.  We aren't sure what it was but he tested negative for the flu.  He's getting better but still isn't 100%.  The problem is, now I'm sick.  I don't know if he gave it to me or if I got it from sitting in Dr offices/hospital.  It's just been a cold for me... sore throat, coughing, runny nose, temp of 99.  So, how do I care for him without getting him sick again?  My nose is running like a faucet and I went through half a box of kleenex today alone.  I'm his primary caregiver... I'm a SAHM and DH works long hours.  If I put purell on every time I coughed or blew my nose, I would seriously never stop.  My hands would never have a chance to dry!  That and my skin would probably fall off!  I've tried to keep him busy with his swing, bouncer, crib, etc. so I'm not holding him 24/7 but a lot of times he just wants to be held.... and eat and have his diaper changed, etc.!  Help... what do I do?

  • ugh I don't know :( If you're washing your hands and disinfecting around the house, I'm not sure what else you can do!  Hopefully he won't get sick - does he get BM? If so that should help a lot.  Sorry. Hang in there and get well soon!

No, I wish.  My milk never really came in and completely dried up around 7 weeks.  Sad

  • aw I'm sorry :( I couldn't remember.  I wish I had more advice. I'll say a prayer!
  • Can you buy some of those silly face masks?  The children's hospital across from LO's hospital has all the kids in the ER wearing them, so I assume they help a little bit.

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well! I'll be praying you get better soon and that your LO doesn't get it again!

  • DH was real sick when we brought the twins home.  The masks while albeit were miserable really did protect the twins and Sudafed 12 hr kept his nose from running amok.  I know when I really am really sick DH takes a sick day or two to help me out.  If that is an option I would do it.  You wouldn't go to work if you were that sick and being a SAH (WAHM in my case) is more important than FT job.
