bed wetting?

so we pt'ed ds in the begging of June and he did really well. even better than I expected. at first we did diapers for naps and night time but then he didn't want diapers at all so we did training pants which ended up giving him a rash so we just put him in regular underwear and expected accidents at night time. Well he did really well only a few accidents but most of the time he would wake up and tell us he needed to go potty. So for most of July all of Aug., Sept, and so far Oct. he has had no accidents at night time. well now the last 4 nights in a row he has had an accident. We have always been careful not to give him too much to drink in the evenings and take him to the bathroom right before bed time. I'm not sure what happened. I honsetly think he might be afraid to tell us he needs to go potty. He usually sits in bed and goes ahhh! ahhh! ahhh! (really high pitched and whiny yes it's very annoying) till one of us gets up to take him. Well the night before he started having accidents dh yelled at him for whiny and not just getting up to go potty by himself. I think he won't go himself b/c he is afraid of the dark and now I think he thinks he will get yelled at for telling us he needs to go at night. I could be wrong and it could be something completely different though. I always tell him if he needs to go potty he should always tell some one he needs to go. Any suggestions on what to do or is this just a passing phase we have to stick out. TIA
