Just found out PG with #2.  My Dh and I decided that if it is a girl I get to name her and if it is boy he would name him.  This should be interesting:)  Tell me what you think of the name Mazie for a girl.  I shared it with DH and he gave me the are you serious look??  My sister also hates it!  Please be honest!!

When you said that all I could think of is the chicken my mom named "Mazie". Is there any significance to that? and is it short for anything? I think Mazie may be a cute nickname, but maybe it could be short for a longer name?

Mazie isn't a name that I would select. It's not my style.

It isn't a bad name...just not one that I really would use. I agree with the PP that it would be okay as a nickname.

I don't like the name Mazie or Maisy. ?Maybe if you named her Margaret or something else like it and used Mazie as a nn. ?But it just doesn't strike me as a name that anyone would take seriously. ?It could be cute for a baby, but I would want to give her options for when she gets older.

I don't like it. My husband calls me Mazie Mae picking on me. I think that's from a movie..

I don't dislike the name, but I prefer to see it spelled Maisy or Macy.  Unless you are pronouncing it with a hard "z", in that case, I don't like it.

Thank you for all your opinions/suggestions.  Just wanted to put it out there and get some feedback.  I like the name...but I see your point on it being a good baby name, but not so good adult name.

First of all, congrats on #2! Secondly, would Mazie be short for anything? It somewhat sounds like a nn but I think that's starting to become a little more popular [using something that seems like a nn as the full name]. It's NMS but I could see a cute little girl in pigtails named Mazie so who knows.

I think it could be a cute nickname, but I don't like it as a formal name.  I have friends who named their DD Margaret and gave her the nn Maisie, which I love.

Mazie/Maysie/whatever - no good.  In fact, we have just been talking about the fact that the ditzy blond barista at our coffee bar is named Maysie.  Suits her perfectly.  I also think of livestock.

We have friends that have a little girl named Mazlyn...and they call her Mazie.

Macy is cute.  Similar feel, but a bit more sophisticated for when she grows up.
