One of our girls is going to be a Hailey...we chose that spelling because it was highest up on the most popular names of 2008(or whatever year it was we looked at). We wanted the most popular spelling because our last name is very difficult to spell and pronounce and we don't want her to have to spell her first and last name every time someone asks!!

I don't know what's the traditional spelling, but Haley looks like it should be pronounced Hal-ee, and Hayley looks more like Hay - Lee. I prefer the first.
Re: Drawing a blank... spelling question
(read it. you know you want to.)
anderson . september 2008
vivian . february 2010
mabel . august 2012
me too?
Actually, I think the oldest spelling is Hayley, which I like best. There was an actress Hayley Mills back in the 60s.
I think Haley is fine but I can't stand Hailey. Just don't like the fact that "hail" is in the name.
ITA. I like Hayley the best.
This is what I have seen the most, too. I know one who is a Haliey. Yuck!
