Interesting conversation with FIL - Re: Horror movies

We stopped over there so DH could help him move some patio furniture. He was in the middle of a Saw movie marathon.

I didn't ask him to turn it off. I just told DD that she needed to play in the back room. After they moved the furninture, we stayed out back and she was having a good time playing. He asked if I was going to bring into the living room and I said nope. He asked why, and I told I didn't want DD to see the movie and was afraid she would nightmares. He said, well, it's all fake. I know that, and he knows that, but my almost 3 year old doesn't know that. I said, besides she's having a good time back here. He asked DH when we were leaving when he thought DD would be old enough to watch them. He said, he wasn't sure, but it won't be anytime soon.

We are still chuckling over it. I really hope she won't like stuff like that, because it totally skeeves me out, but was so glad that DH backed me up

  • Is he for real?  a 3 year old?
  • Not that the world needs to revolve around our children at someone else's house but seriously- I can't believe he wouldn't turn that sh!t off!  Yeah, at 3 probably not the best to see.  I'm just shaking my  head here!

  • He let DH watch them when he was young, which explains why DH loves them so. I refuse to watch anymore and now that we are married, I won't even go to haunted houses or see the movies.

For the record, he didn't think that she would really watch it, but I didn't want her anywher in the area of it.
