  • Very nice!  One of my good friend's son's name is Giovanni.  She is Italian and wanted such a name.  They call him Gio for short.  Are you trying to do Italian/Spanish names???

  • LOVE Giovanni....it does not sound well with Jose at all.

    LOVE Angelina....but not with Caroline...

BOTH names do not flow well wiith the middle names.

  • Boy - Giovanni- LOVE this name! Jose- do NOT like this one at all.

Girl - Angelina- I love Angelina too, Caroline- is OK

    Agreed.

What about something like Giovanni Matteo or something that flows better, ethnically?

  • All 4 of the names are after family members.

I have been saying since I was about 15 that I would name my first daughter after my mother (Angelina) and DH always told his little sister he would name a daughter after her, either first or middle (Caroline).  HIs mom's name is Carol so that is in there too.  While I agree that the two do not necesarily flow and are a bit of a mouthful - the sentimental attachment is more important to us.  Besides, our daughter will probably be referred to as Angie or Angelina for the most part - middle names are so rarely used.

Same goes with the boy name.  DH is Italian and I am Portuguese - names that reflected our culture were important to us.  His fathers name is John so we decided to go with the Italian Giovanni.  He will likely be called either Gio or Giovanni.  My fathers name is Jose Maria (holy mouthful) so we decided to honor him by using Jose as the middle name.  Again, middle names are not used that often so we were not overly concerned with "flow".  If we do have a boy though, my husband is already planning on calling him "GI Joe". :-)
