NE1's dc have a reaction to the nasal flu mist?

Madelyn had hers on Wednesday, and in Friday started to run a fever.  Today it's about 103.  Coincidence or the kid that shouldn't get the flu mist?

Re: NE1's dc have a reaction to the nasal flu mist?

  • The flu mist is a live virus so I do believe it's normal to get a mild flu after.
  • That's what I thought.  SHe has no other symptoms.

  • My DD got a cold afterwards, but I attributed that to bringing a healthy child into a germ infested Pediatrician's office.  I hate going there!
  • My DD got sick several days after her flu mist.  Very mild fever.  Coughing.  Runny nose.  Low energy for a couple of days.

  • Mine did not but she was getting over a cold when she got it.

BD's pedi said the flu vax is not live enough to give anyone the actual flu.

  • my pedi won't give the flu mist - his daughter got a horrible flu from it last year (6 y/o)... and esp with the H1N1 he fears that the virus is not known enough about - and shooting it live into kids could be a bad idea... so he is not giving the mist out.

He is not the only doc i know who feels this way (i'm a drug rep and talk to docs all day long) i know quite a few who have patients and faimly who have gotten a full blown flu from the mist - and refuse to use it now.
