Pregnant after 35

Didn't tell work yet..

Anyone not tell work yet after 12 weeks? I am planning on telling my boss and coworkers next week and I am actually scared to!

I know one of my coworkers will have to cover for me while I am gone and she will not be thrilled with that.

Anyone else apprehensive about telling work?

Re: Didn't tell work yet..

  • I still haven't told my boss yet, I am scared!! He really is going to flip out. Seriously.

  • I haven't told anyone yet --- except for husband, doctors and bumpies.?

I don't plan to until I'm about 16 weeks or so. I'm hoping to demonstrate that pregnancy isn't distracting me from work. (I'm writing this at work so maybe that's not going so well)?

I'm nervous about telling work because there's a strong possibility that my company will have lay-offs in the spring. I think I'm going to be in a death match with another older, childless employee for a job when they downsize our office.

  • when i got pg w/ #1, i didn't tell until i was 18 wks along.  i don't know why b/c i knew they'd be happy for me.  i guess i just wanted it to be my little secret.  it sure helped time fly!
  • I didn't tell until after 18 weeks, after amnio. Everyone was happy then, but now that I'm less than 2 months away from maternity leave, people are starting to have little comments, like "you really need 6 weeks off? I came back after 4 weeks with my second baby" and crap like that.

  • I told work at about 14 weeks. I was really nervous too--I guess I was scared my boss would be mad!! But everyone has been really supportive and great. Best of luck to you!

  • I told around 13 weeks or so.  I could of hid it longer but was 'ready' to get it out there.  I really wouldn't feel comfortable telling too much earlier, though.  I wanted to get into 2nd tri and have my NT scan, etc.
