Hi - TTCAL lurker here. I am going on 38 and am considering trying fertility-related acupuncture. If you had it, how often? Any experinces you want to share?
I had it done in conjunction with IVF. I'd go in weekly for it then I also had it the day of the egg transfer. I had 30 minutes of acupuncture and then the doc came right in and did the transfer.
My first IVF worked but I don't know if I can attribute it to acupuncture as much as I can my fantastic RE.
I was having acupuncture once a week for migraines and my acupuncturist suggest added fertility points since DH and I were trying to conceive. I'm not sure if you can credit the acupuncture or not but I'm pregnant for the first time at 44, with no IVF or other assistance. It's helped with the migraines too. I figure acupuncture is painless and relatively inexpensive so why not give it a try.
I went once a week and continued through to my 4th month of pregnancy. I also did herbs. I loved acupuncture so much. I don't know if it helped or not, but my charts did look so much better a month or two after I started - my LP lengthened by a few days. Ultimately, it took clomid to get me KU!
I did acupuncture in cojunction with my IVF cycels. I went weekly while I was stimmming on meds and then I went a day before transfer and then on the day of transfer. My first IVf ended up being a blighted ovum but my second IVF was successful. I did not do any herbs because I was on meds for my IVF but I truly enjoyed it. I have not gone since I have been pregnant. My acupuncturist also helped me with my diet and suggested things that I could do while doing my IVF cycle. She also reccommend the infertility cure book which I bought and read through that helped me a little bit on what I should be doing! Good Luck!

I used acupuncture pre-conception, a schedule my acupuncturist came up with. I had treatments during my cycle, twice before ovulation, once or twice post-ov. I conceived naturally in 4 months at 40 and truly believe that the acupuncture made a HUGE difference. My cycles became more regular and it was much easier to determine best days for conception. Good Luck!!
I tried for 17 months to get pg, and when it ended in a m/c, I turned to accupuncture to help. I did accupuncture once a week, took herbal supplements reccommended by my accupuncturist, followed her dietary reccommendations, went organic, and 4 months after we started trying again I became pg. I'm now 37 and pg with my second. A great book to read if you're interested in accupuncture for fertiltiy is "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis. Should give you some insight on the process.
